Systematic construction and sophisticated architecture – a contradiction in terms? Quite the contrary! On Hanauer Landstraße in Frankfurt am Main, holger meyer architektur worked with the developer Indigo Invest to design a state-of-the-art, flexible office building with individual architectural charm using the GOLDBECK construction system.

Frankfurt's east is booming – and not just since the ECB moved to the formerly industrial working-class district of the financial metropolis. Hanauer Landstraße is, like no other street, a symbol of the ongoing transformation of Frankfurt's east from a commercial and industrial location to a lively and trendy urban district.

The new building was constructed in the immediate vicinity of Frankfurt's legendary Union grounds between Hanauer Landstraße and Lindleystraße, which runs further south and connects the adjacent industrial and commercial area to the Osthafen.

On Hanauer Landstraße, the seven-story volume of the new FRAMES Frankfurt office building rises across the entire width of the property with a striking letterpress facade. Different-sized, light-colored facade elements – the frames – create a playful image with their deep and sloping reveals. In contrast, the side façades form a pleasant, calm frame as a vertical perforated band façade. A wide two-story opening onto the street marks the entrance to the two-story foyer, from which the up to three rental units per floor can be accessed, which are arranged around a roof terrace on the first floor. The roof terrace is available to tenants as additional outdoor space.

At the rear of Lindleystraße, an eight-story self-storage warehouse with a grid-pattern perforated façade and 1,000 storage compartments adjoins the office building. The service yard, which also provides access to the warehouse, is located between the office and warehouse buildings. A single-story underground parking garage with a total of 103 parking spaces extends beneath both buildings.
