Avant-garde aesthetics transform the foyer of an existing office building in Frankfurt into an elegant lobby that serves as both a reception area for guests and a meeting place for the companies' employees. It impresses with a multi-layered wall installation and a well-thought-out color and material concept. The architects developed an elegant design concept in black that stylishly welcomes visitors and employees and whose theme is also reflected throughout all common areas of the building.
A protruding signal black frame forms a new entrance to the street. It integrates an information system and mailboxes and leads into the monochromatic foyer. The room spans the entire depth of the building and offers a view of the garden through the floor-to-ceiling glass façade. The ambience immediately absorbs all the noise from the busy street directly in front of the building.
Along the side walls, the network of polygonally cut slats made of black-dyed acoustic insulation felt panels condenses into a polymorphic sculptural wall structure. The contrast with the marble-gray painted rear walls creates a picture puzzle of a wall formation that changes with movement, condensing toward the street and loosening up toward the garden. In the spaces between, plants increasingly entwine themselves toward the courtyard, emphasizing the transition from the urban environment to the greenery of the garden.
The dynamic effect of the slatted walls in the foyer is broken by two portal structures, also in signal black, which lead to the vertical access zones on either side. The passageways, elevator lobbies, and cabins are also in signal black, as is the foyer. On the upper floors, the stairwells, elevator lobbies, and access points to the restrooms also follow this two-color concept. Marble-gray lettering ensures easy orientation.
The reception desk, which serves as a meeting point in the foyer, is covered with matte furniture linoleum in signal black. Its sculptural form is reflected in the slatted wall.
Colored stools form colorful seating areas in the foyer, creating inviting and colorful focal points. Light fixtures suspended from the ceiling set the scene for visitors. Thanks to their weatherproof covers, the stools can also be used on the terrace, inviting employees and guests to meet outdoors.
