Is working for the authorities boring and dreary? Not in the revitalized premises of the Main-Taunus Regional Criminal Investigation Department in Sulzbach. holger meyer architektur has implemented a complementary color and material concept here that makes everyday life at the station much more colorful. Holger Meyer Architektur has given the brick-red-orange building a new lease of life and a new shine with the use of color across large areas. When revitalizing the former office complex from the 1980s, the architects paid particular attention to the color scheme of the interior. Together with the users, they chose a palette of red and green tones. Visitors find orientation aids in the colors assigned to functional areas: green entrance zones, red stairwells and transitions between building components, turquoise-green meeting zones – the conference rooms and kitchenettes are located opposite each other and are connected by color across the hallway. In the interior polygonal corridors, a light and a dark side each indicate the direction. In addition to offices, police-specific
rooms were also created on a total of 6,221 square meters, for which special security requirements had to be implemented during the renovation. In addition, during the revitalization of the office complex, which covers a total of over 12,000 square meters, a modern fire protection concept was developed and implemented, the building services and sanitary facilities were brought up to date, and a copper-clad technical enclosure on the roof was repaired. Charging stations for electric cars were pre-installed in the inner courtyard of the building complex and a large bicycle parking area was created.
