›I/D Cologne‹

New construction of a building complex comprising a hotel, offices, and restaurants

Location: Cologne
Client: Joint venture between Art-Invest Real Estate and OSMAB Holding AG
Planning/construction period: meyerschmitzmorkramer | 2016 –
Gross floor area oi/ui: 25,160/5,720 m²
Service phases: 1 – 4

In the summer of 2018, ground was broken on the seven-hectare site of the former Cologne-Mülheim freight station to create an agile platform covering almost 140,000 m² of gross floor area comprising offices, hotels, restaurants, and fitness facilities, providing space and shape for a modern working environment. On one section, meyerschmitzmorkramer is planning a seven-story meander, which will extend over three sections with a gross floor area of approximately 28,000 m². The striking cubature spatially divides the hotel, office building, and administration building areas and creates spacious inner courtyards. Changes in floor heights ensure dialogue between the building components and form attractive roof terraces. In keeping with the surrounding original industrial architecture, the development also features brick facades, interpreted in a modern way in the form of loft architecture.
