New office building for GIZ in Eschborn takes third place in competition

  • Two-part implementation competition
  • A building as the calling card for an entire campus
  • Wood hybrid construction and low-tech energy concept

Our design was awarded third prize in the invited competition for the new GIZ office building in Eschborn.

PHOENIX Real Estate Development GmbH is developing a new building for GIZ in Eschborn, which will expand the current office space and become the calling card of the entire campus. A communicative working environment is being created on seven floors with a gross floor area of approximately 50,700 m²: two parallel, minimally folded blocks are connected by a foyer in the base. On the upper floors, bridges not only provide a connection but also offer the ideal location for informal meetings. The outdoor area is also designed to encourage interaction: thanks to its high quality and versatility, the functional separation between inside and outside is effectively dissolved. A sustainable low-tech energy concept was developed for the new building, which is constructed as a wood hybrid, so that the GIZ's philosophy is also reflected in technical terms.
