A new urban quarter has been created on the site of the former Oberkassel freight station. Along a boulevard, the sophisticated building complexes "Nizza" and "Cannes" have been constructed, with residential use and retail outlets on the ground floor. The concept is based on the charm of the French Riviera in the 1950s, with stylistic elements of the Côte d'Azur being incorporated into the design: light-colored clinker brick facades with white plaster frames and painted steel railings follow the natural stone base made of shell limestone, and detailed elements such as striped awnings exude southern flair. The basic motif is also continued inside. The entrance area combines polished stainless steel, light-colored natural stone, and block stripe patterns. Door fittings and window handles in the style of the 1950s and warm sand tones round off the concept.
