From baking aids to soup seasoning, Diamalt in Munich was a staple in German households. A new neighborhood with up to 650 apartments, social facilities, and green and open spaces is being built on the approximately eight-hectare site of the former factory premises. The design for part of the site, a new building with 189 apartments, won the competition. Above all, the planning process focused on the special features of the old industrial buildings and the identity and history of the site. With a design that ties in with the listed industrial buildings, large window openings, and loft styles, a lively architecture is created that references the character and history of the site. A family of buildings with differentiated housing options is being created in a structured envelope development.
