Iconic Awards 2018

August 13, 2018

We were honored to receive five awards: we are currently receiving five Iconic Awards 2018 from the German Design Council. For the fourth consecutive year since 2015, the office has been awarded this coveted prize.

Our office is being rewarded for its consistent level of design in architecture. Praise is given for the consistent, clear signature style in the planning of entire urban areas, the careful renovation of listed cultural buildings, and the reminiscence of style and tradition in interior design. We would like to express our gratitude for the five current awards from the German Design Council, which reflect meyerschmitzmorkramer's holistic understanding of design. This is also an incentive for us to continue our commitment to quality in architecture and design!

Annual 17/18 | meyerschmitzmorkramer | A breath of fresh air in architecture.

A highlight in terms of design, word mark, and book body: The "Annual 17/18" by meyerschmitzmorkramer, designed by the Cologne-based agency Studio für Gestaltung and published by meyerschmitzmorkramer, was named the winner in the Communication category.

Architecture category

Winner: Taunusanlage 8, Frankfurt | Clear structures, sustainable design

The building follows an exemplary sustainability concept and has been awarded LEED Platinum certification. With clear structures and precisely set height gradations, it corresponds to the diverse surroundings of parks, historic buildings, and the Frankfurt skyline.

Winner: Le Flair, Baufeld 6, Düsseldorf | Connecting public and private

The Le Flair district is characterized by the "Quartiersplatz," which stands out visually as the center thanks to a ten-story point block. On the ground floor, visitors are struck by a glass foyer with a special feature: it is also used for public events.

Interior category

Selection: Cecilienallee, Düsseldorf | Preserving the aesthetics of the 1950s.

We transformed and renovated the former US Consulate General in Düsseldorf, which was built in 1953 according to plans by the US firm SOM, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. The façade was rebuilt true to the original in accordance with energy standards; we paid particular attention to the interior design in order to preserve the aesthetics of the 1950s.

Selection: DVAG, Frankfurt | Clever facade work

The 130-meter-long office building from the 1990s was closed off from the city. A key measure was to relocate the main entrance and open it up to the city. Another connecting element of the new headquarters was created by a spacious, two-story glass foyer.
